Children's Summer Camp
June 15- 18 at Stetson University in Deland, FL
The camp theme this year is Jump- Put Faith in Action and will be based on Paul's Journey and his radical faith and how it unfolds. Camp cost will be $250 and a deposit of $100 will be due by March 15. We do not want any child who wants to attend camp to be left out because of the cost of camp. We offer families an opportunity to be a part of our rummage sale in the spring as a way to earn credit towards camp.
Mission Opportunities sponsored by Family Ministry
Family Ministry will focus on missions during the 40 days of Lent. We will be partnering with the United Methodist Committee on Relief to provide health kits to Haiti. We will be collecting the following items.
- one gallon zip lock plastic bags
- hand towels
- wash clothes
- combs (large and sturdy, not pocket size)
- nail files and finger nail clippers (no emery boards or toe nail clippers)
- bath size bar of soap (3 oz and up)
- toothbrushes (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child size brushes)
- plastic strip sterile bandages
- $1.00 to purchase toothpaste (Note: UMCOR can purchase toothpaste in bulk to add to health kits at a great cost)
*ALL ITEMS MUST BE NEW ITEMS. Supplies can be dropped off in the Children's Worship Center. We will offer opportunities for families to work together to help package these kits. We will meet on Monday, March 15 from 1-2:30 pm and Sunday, March 28 from 4-5:30 pm to put together relief kits. Everyone is welcome. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
We will also be asking our congregation to drop your loose change during lent into our "Care Cross" located outside of the Children's Worship Center. This money will also go to UMCOR to help with relief efforts in Haiti. A financial gift to UMCOR is a great way to multiply our efforts in an area that needs a humanitarian helping hand. Help us show the world that we care by being a part of our mission efforts.
Local Mission Opportunity- We are continuing to take donations for Mama Tina's to help the homeless with personal hygiene items. Most items are the 2 oz size. We have a box for those items outside the Children's Worship Center. This is an ongoing mission project for our children and their families.
- body/hand lotion
- toothpaste
- toothbrush
- razor
- shampoo
- deodorant
- bar of soap
- pocket comb
- wash cloth
