Covenant is involved in mission locally and internationally. Through our Faith Promise
campaign we are able to provide loving and caring outreach to persons in need.
Volunteer Opportunities
International/National
Panama
In August of 2013, Covenant will partner in a medical mission to the Ngobe Native Americans of Panama. We will send a team to assist with a clinic near a remote reservation. Covenant also sponsors the work of Rhett Thompson, a United Methodist missionary, as well as other mission project in Panama throughout the year.
Peru
In October 2013, Covenant will send a team to work with children in a tiny village in the Andes Mountains. Each year, we send a team to work in an elementary school with a VBS-style project. Other mission opportunities in Peru may become available in the coming months.
Kenya
In July of 2013, we will send a team to serve in an orphanage in Nakuru, Kenya. The orphanage rescues babies, and our team assists with caring for babies, helps with repairs on the campus, and assists with a variety of ministries. Covenant supports the ministries of the Baby Center throughout the year.
Family Mission Trip
Each spring, our church sends a team to serve alongside the Taunton Home. In the spring of 2013, our Family Mission Trip will include families with children of all ages. We will do renovations to homes in the area and use the Taunton Home as our home-base for outreach in the area of Wewahitchka, Florida.
Local
Home Improvement Ministry (HIM)
Our HIM team serves in construction and repair ministries throughout the region. Our team specializes in wheelchair ramps and necessary health-related improvements, especially for the elderly and home-bound. We have an active team with ongoing projects, and we offer Work Days for the whole church periodically. Our HIM team also oversees our church's volunteer work with Habitat with Humanity. We always seek any willing servant for any of our projects.
Mama Tina's Soup Kitchen
We cook and serve meals for 150 people each weekday on the last week of each month. Under the direction of Mama Tina Glasgow, a matriarch and servant in the downtown area, we offer Christ through a warm meal and opportunity to interact with people in the Bottoms area of town. We are always seeking cooks and servers.
Habitat for Humanity
Perform various home building duties to construct a home. Home building skills such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall finishing and painting are helpful, but general laborers are also needed.
Helping Hands
Helping Hands is a team of people who 'adopt' needy families in our region who desire to escape poverty. We offer financial counseling, spiritual mentoring, financial assistance, and other forms of holistic help to a small number of people as we journey through difficult issues in their lives. This ministry also oversees our Compassion Bags, food given to the needy who come to our church. This ministry is always seeking individuals who can offer services or compassion to people in need within our community.
Meals on Wheels
Covenant serves meals Tuesday through Friday each week.
Blood Donor
Blood drives are provided at Covenant annually by LifeSouth.
