Stephen Ministry

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.

A Stephen Minister is…

  • A child of God who walks beside a hurting person.
  • A caring Christian friend who really listens.
  • A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in providing distinctively Christian care.

A Stephen Minister is NOT…

  • A counselor or therapist
  • A problem solver
  • A casual visitor

What is a Stephen Minister For?

  • Loneliness
  • Loss of a spouse
  • Career changes
  • Hospitalization
  • Separation and divorce
  • Grief
  • Terminal illness
  • Any life changing event

Interested in Becoming a Stephen Minister?

Faith, mercy, teaching the faith, encouragement, or knowing: Do one or more of these gifts describe you? If so, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister. A new training class is starting soon. For more information about this special ministry, you are invited to an informational meeting Wednesday, August 20 at 5:30 pm in Room C110.

Grief Support Groups

Grief support groups are now meeting at Covenant. The groups are divided by type of loss: spouse, child, parent, divorce or other types of loss. Grief support will meet the 1st Tuesday of each month @ 6:30 pm in Oasis (C210) in the CLC. For more information call Sammy Prim (793-4440) or Cathy Oldfield
