Summer Day Camp

Covenant United Methodist Church offers a summer-long day camp for children of working parents. Children must have completed Kindergarten through sixth grade to be eligible for enrollment in this program.

Our summer camp is designed to be relaxing, recreational, educational, and tailored to children ages 6 to 6th grade. We offer a range of daily activities, long-term projects, special events and celebrations, field trips, and enrichment activities in a Christian environment.

Creative arts and crafts include fabric dying, papier-mâché, sand art, and clay sculpting. Field trips to destinations such as local parks, museums, library, bowling, roller-skating, and swimming are offered on a weekly basis.

Our purpose for such a ministry is:

1. To provide a safe place for a parent to leave a child during summer daytime hours.
2. To provide opportunities for children to learn Christian principles in a wholesome environment.

Dates
Summer day camp begins on June4. The last day of camp will be the Friday before Dothan City Schools start back (date TBA). We will be closed July 4. You will have ONE WEEK that can be an optional week so that each family can take vacation without being required to pay. With exception of this week, each child MUST register for the entire summer.

Hours
The camp is open from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Field trips and special programs will not begin until 9:00 am, and we will complete these activities by 3:30 pm. Therefore, we request that your child be here by at least 9:00 am and be picked up after 3:30 pm, or that we be notified to the contrary so we can make arrangements accordingly.

Fees
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $85. Tuition is $85 per week, which averages out to $1.61 per hour for child care.  There is a 10-percent discount to families who want to enroll a second child in the day camp program. Each child must pay the $85 registration fee. There is NO REDUCTION of price for absences, with the exception of the one allowed optional week. Payment is expected at the beginning of each day camp week. A late charge of $25 will be added if payment is not made by Friday of that week.
